Davis named next leader of nursing group; Hoarle to helm oncology group; more departures and arrivals

Lucas Davis will succeed Liz Madigan as CEO of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, effective Aug. 19.

Davis to lead nursing organization

Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing announced Lucas Davis has been appointed CEO of the $12M-revenue group, effective Aug. 19. He will succeed Liz Madigan, who stepped down last year following five years at the helm.

“Luke Davis brings a wealth of operational and leadership experience to the chief executive officer position, along with an infectious energy and enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing his impact as Sigma continues its tradition of excellence under his leadership,” said Sigma President Sandra C. Garmon Bibb in a statement.

Davis will join Sigma from the International Coaching Federation, where he has served as vice president and chief staff officer since 2019. Most recently, he was executive director of National University College, a for-profit university. Previously, he was executive director and CEO of education company CAMPUSPEAK.

He has a bachelor’s degree in social and behavioral sciences from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis.

Hoarle to helm oncology group

The Society of Gynecologic Oncology announced Kimberly Hoarle will take over as CEO of the group, effective Sept. 16. She will succeed Pierre Désy, who left the group last year after leading for seven years.

“(Kim’s) medical association experience, intellect, track record of innovation and accomplishment, and dedication to improving health care outcomes make her the ideal leader for our organization. The SGO Board of Directors is confident that Kim’s vision and leadership will take our Society to new heights. We look forward to working with her to advance our mission and serve our members and the patients we care for,” said SGO President Amanda Nickles Fader.

Hoarle has spent the past seven years at the American Burn Association, where she is executive director. Previously, she led the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management, where she was executive director. Earlier in her career, she spent nearly 11 years at the American Academy of Dermatology in director positions.

She has a bachelor’s degree in human development and social policy from Northwestern University and a master’s degree in business administration from Roosevelt University.

Staff Departures

American Bakers Association—ABA announced Vice President of Operations and Membership Jennifer Colfelt is stepping down Aug. 15. She joined the $8.5M-revenue group in 2018 as vice president of finance and operations. Earlier in her career, she held vice president roles at the National Asphalt Pavement Association and the American Investment Council.

American Property Casualty InsuranceJon Ward has been named department vice president of public affairs for APCI. He joins the group from Yahoo News, where he spent nearly 10 years and was most recently chief national correspondent. He was previously a senior political reporter for The Huffington Post. 

National Pharmaceutical CouncilJacquelyn McRae has been appointed vice president of policy and external affairs of $8.3M-revenue NPC. She was previously director of policy, research and membership for the organization, which she joined in 2020.

Personal Care Products CouncilTesia Williams has been appointed executive vice president of public affairs and communications for $20M-revenue PCC. She was most recently head of global corporate media relations for Johnson & Johnson. Earlier in her career, she held positions at Edelman, the Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
